setting the stage for continued collaboration out here in The Last Frontier
Join us on January 17 and 18, 2025, at The Granada Theatre in Alpine
Let's visit.
On the evening of Friday, January 17, we'll gather at The Granada Theatre in Alpine to hear from Doug Griffiths, the author of 13 Ways to Kill Your Community, a book about how to make and keep towns strong and vibrant. After the talk, we'll visit and eat together informally.
If you'd like to get a copy of the book before the talk, Front Street Books is keeping it in stock! It's also a good listen on audio.
From Bookshop.org --
13 Ways to Kill Your Community is lively, full of personality, conversational, breezy, succinct, and fun. One can imagine readers seeking out information on boosting their local community sighing dutifully as they seek out material and then being relieved and delighted when what they find turns out to be as entertaining as it is informative. The information provided is sometimes startling and often positively revelatory. The anecdotes and examples are delivered with wit and a little bit of a dishy factor. But underneath all the fun is a clear breadth of experience, and a no-nonsense, practical approach to community building, which can be easily grasped. 13 Ways to Kill Your Community offers practical, implementable steps that can be taken to bring a moribund community back to life. This book delivers what it promises, and it does so with wit and warmth.
Let's plan.
On the morning of Saturday, January 18, we'll be back at the Granada to work on ways to act right away on the good ideas we got the night before. We'll be led though this process by Liz Grindstaff, Danelle Smith, Malinda Veldman, and Kendra Jones. We're calling this day "Bucket Sessions, AKA -- OK, now what?"
Let's get to work.
Register for the summit here. Because of our sponsors (see below!), it's free.
