Fostering fellowship should be part of everything we do
Trying to be reasonable is always a good idea
Everyone should probably over-communicate (we fail at this but keep trying)
Most things really can be figured out eventually
Working in the spirit of "let's give it a try" leads to interesting things
Transparency builds trust
Most of the time it's just a small bit of extra work to make it beautiful
Things take time
But also, sometimes there's an easy button and we shouldn't forget to hit it whenever we can
Sometimes we get asked for our "elevator speech." We struggle with that question! Some of what we do is hands-on manual labor, some is studying a problem and then gathering people to work on it with us, some is connecting people who we think would work well on something together. We try to figure out how to use our skills and interests to make things better for all of us. ACP is a welcoming, open space where people can discuss ideas, make plans, and then act on them. As our organization matures, our role will morph to address what’s needed at the time. Sometimes the right project is the one we can get traction on (because of willing volunteers or grant opportunities), so we try to stay flexible. If you can make an elevator speech out of all that, we would welcome the help:)
