Abbey was born and brought up in Alpine. She founded the Alpine Historical Association in 2019, merging it with Historic Alpine while also maintaining her commercial product shop, BRANCH, out of Houston. Her parents live in Alpine, and she lives in both Alpine and Houston.
Scarlet was born and brought up in Alpine and is the dean of education at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. Her work and volunteer experience have been mainly in education and child welfare. Her family has lived in Alpine for six generations.
Kirsten Moody was born and brought up in Alpine. Her education is in public affairs. Her work and volunteer experience has been in education, child welfare, and local government. Her mother lives in Alpine, and she lives in both Alpine and Austin.
Heather is an associate professor in Trinity University's education department. She has worked as an elementary teacher, K-12 literacy coach, state level reading technical assistance specialist, reading and teacher preparation program coordinator on research and dissemination grants at The University of Texas, Vaughn Gross Center for Reading and Language Arts, and was a doctoral fellow at The University of Kansas, Beach Center on Disabilities. She's the new owner of the Cozy Court in Alpine.
J.D. Newsom is a West Texas native and moved to Alpine three years ago. His graduate degree is in law, and he is currently the executive director of the Big Bend Regional Hospital District. His work and volunteer experience is broad -- he has served as executive director of the Big Bend Conservation Alliance, as chief operating officer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County, as VP of operations for Refugee Services of Texas, and as a station manager with the Red Cross in Iraq and Afghanistan. J.D. is beginning a new career as a Foreign Service Officer, first stop -- Kathmandu, Nepal!
